Artist Dee VachonMiller

I have been drawing and painting all my life so it is as natural as breathing.  My artwork comes from personal inspiration. I look at everything artistically, as being a potential subject to be painted on canvas. It makes me feel good that my artwork is something in which others treasure.

Several years ago I painted a portrait of two dogs and a cat for a lady friend. I sent her the animal portrait which arrived the day after her oldest dog passed away.  The painting helped her through the grieving and healing process of loosing such a dear old friend. Commissions that are meaningful & emotional are a blessing for me. I enjoy creating artwork that has an that emotional attachment and heartfelt love.

I have been trained in drawing and painting but I did not like being told I was wrong, "do it this way". There is no wrong way to express yourself, there is no wrong way to use a particular medium. I enjoy experimenting with paints & media and seeing the results of mix media. My preferred media is pen and ink with watercolor, acrylic or pastels added. However, I do find time to still work with traditional oil and acrylic paints on canvas.

I hope I may work with you on a painting or drawing of a subject of your beloved. To share in your emotional attachment  for the subject. To be inspired, to create the artwork which will be treasured for a lifetime or for generations.
